Abstract
Following the implementation of the Act on Well-Dying in 2018 as an advance life-sustaining treatment law, the Assisted Justice Act was proposed on June 16, 2022. By further illuminating the meaning of well-dying in the context of hospital and hospice etymology, we understand that the life-sustaining treatment decision law and the legal system of assisted death with dignity are in-line with the principles of the right to self-determination and the right to happiness and dignity at the end of life. By understanding the individual¡¯s right to make decisions, this aims to awaken awareness as to the realization of the values of human dignity so as to create a more desirable end-of-life culture.
